Relax with magnificent views of Russell’s bay and wharf from the deck or our beautifully restored 1910 villa or from our guest cottage with spacious guest rooms, all with ensuites, and large verandah, all surrounded by mature native trees and birdsong. Imagine having breakfast served al fresco, on your own verandah, while seeing nature at its best. There are 3 guest suites all beautifully appointed with superking or queen size beds each with luxurious New Zealand pure wool underlays for your comfort. Your suite is complete with tea/coffee facilities, refrigerator, microwave, TV, DVD, and laundry facilities. Off street parking is provided. A short walk takes you to Long Bay surf beach or historic Flagstaff Hill and native bush. Make your stay even more special with a day sailing charter on our 11.6M yacht "Kingfisher" or 15M "Kama Lua", an awesome way to explore the beutiful sights the Bay of Islands has to offer.Historic and romantic Russell is the oldest town in New Zealand and the first capital. With its museums and craft shops it is an ideal way to explore New Zealand’s early history. With three beautiful beaches and nature walks it provides an idyllic holiday.

How to get to Villa Russell

We are located in Russell in the Bay of Islands, in Northland, New Zealand. The area is famous for its sailing, with sheltered bays, lots of sealife, many islands, unpolluted beaches, and a warmer climate than the rest of New Zealand.If you’re booking a charter, Sue or Stephen will make arrangements to meet you at Russell Wharf in time for departure. If you are staying with us, please head for Villa Russell. Russell is easy to get to from Auckland by coach or car and Keri Keri airport is nearbyTo Russell by Air Air New Zealand flys daily from Auckland to Kerikeri. A shuttle bus runs to Paihia, where you can take the 15 minute passenger ferry crossing to Russell.To Russell by Car Russell is just over 3 hours from Auckland (250 km) via State Highway 1 through Whangarei. Follow the signs north of Whangarei to the turnoff just before Kawakawa. follow the signs to Opua Car Ferry, run by Fullers. The ferry runs as a shuttle from 7.30 am to 10pm and takes about 15 minutes (see the timetable). To Russell by Coach Intercity coaches run from Auckland to Paihia, and the journey takes about 3 hours. It is then just a short trip on the Paihia passenger ferry across to Russell. To Russell by Ferry from Paihia Passenger Ferries run constantly from Paihia wharf to Russell wharf (see the timetable).
