How to get to Chalets @ Terraced Gardens

From Nelson take coastal highway through Mapua and Tasman to Motueka (30 mins approx.). Proceed through Motueka and Riwaka along highway. You will see Riwaka Hotel on the left (approx 10 mins). Do not round the next bend, take the road directly ahead (Dehra Doon Rd.) and proceed 1.3 km till reaching our SUNFLOWER "Terraced Gardens" sign. Turn in and take the driveway to the left up the hill. You will see the office on the left. If unattended please ring the bell. See You Soon!!

Driving Directions from the West Coast (Franz Josef Glacier):-
1.Head north along highway number 6 till reaching Greymouth (good morning tea stop).
2.Take Highway 7 to Reefton
3.then highway 69 to Inangahua
4.Turn right here, you are back on highway 6 to Murchison ( good tea rooms for lunch)
5.Continue on highway 6 through Buller till you see left turn to Tapawera and Motueka (91klms) 6.Take this road through the Motueka Valley to Motueka
7.On reaching Motueka (big supermarkets for supplies if required) turn left into High Street 8.Proceed through town, over the bridge, through Riwaka on highway 60
9.When you see the Riwaka Hotel on the left, Dehra Doon Rd is directly ahead
10. Proceed up Dehra Doon Rd till you see the SUNFLOWER and Chalets sign
11.Take the left fork up the hill and stop at the reception office. PS. This is a very scenic drive so take your time and enjoy it.

When taking the inland route from Christchurch head north along the highway till you see the turn off for Hamner Springs before Waipara, turn along highway 7 through Maruia Springs and Murchison. Take the above directions from Murchison. Approx 5 hours drive with stops.

Extra Guest / Children

Chalets are studios with bedding consisting of one Queen Bed plus a double sofa bed. This allows for two persons either as a double or twin using the sofa bed.
The sofa bed be used for two extra persons, either adults or children

- Swimming at the many beaches close by.
- Sea kayaking from Mapua or Kaiteriteri along the coast.
- GREAT NZ COASTAL WALKS in the ABEL TASMAN NATIONAL PARK and Kahurangi National Park.
- Water Taxi and boat trips along the coast of the National Park. Takes in Split Apple Rock and the Tonga Bay Seal Colony.
- Explore the Nelson area wineries and art galleries.
- Visit the cafes, restaurants and boutiques of Mapua
- Visit Golden Bay only 1 hours drive away.
- Take a day trip to Farewell Spit and Collingwood.
- Trout fishing in the Motueka and Riwaka rivers.
