Christchurch City centre is just under 1.5kms, less than a 25 minute walk.Merivale Manor Motel is central to many of Christchurchs leading attractions (bus stop right outside entrance) and on a main access route to the airport as well as easy access to travel further North to Nelson and Blenheim or down South to Dunedin and Queenstown.Merivale Manor Motel is a short ride to the train station, free pickup can be orgainised if you are catching the transalpine train to Greymouth or scenic coastline train to Picton.Finding us from Christchurch Airport Turn left at the airport round about onto Orchard Road past the Antartic Centre, Orchard Road natually turns a hard right onto Harewood Road. Harewood Road Ts onto Papanui Road. Turn right on to Papanui Road. Follow through (approx 2kms) to Merivale Shopping Centre. Merivale Manor Motel is situated approximately 200 meters on your left after Merivale Mall - 122 Papanui Road, Christchurch. Travelling from the North Enter Christchurch boundry on State Highway 1, continue on Main North Road which leads into Papanui Road, travelling past Northlands Shopping Mall remain on Papanui Road, Merivale Manor Motel is situated at 122 Papanui Road, approximately 200 meters past Merivale Mall on your left. Travelling from the South Enter Christchurch boundary on State Highway 1, continue on Main South Road, which leads into Blenheim Road, turn left at Hagley Park (Deans Avenue), follow the road around the park onto Harper Avenue, onto Bealey Avenue, turn left onto Papanui Road. Merivale Manor Motel is situated at 122 Papanui Road approximately 500 meters on the right.

Research material is also available by appointment. The museum is housed in the upper storey of Strowan House, a mansion set in beautiful grounds by Strowan Stream. The mansion dates back to 1865 and the first college house was built in 1856. The collection comprises memorabilia from 1917, photographs and archival material including education/school records, personal papers, Pacific Islands archives, art, literature, military records and Scottish items. There are four rooms of showcases, collections, manuscripts/paper records, drawings/paintings, films and digital records.
