Sumner Re Treat is an elite complex with three, two bedroom, two bathroom, luxury apartments. Swim in the surf or use our spa pool. We are situated in the quaint Sumner Village two minutes walk from Christchurch`s up market, beautiful Sumner beach. 10km / 20minute by car or bus, East of the city center.Sumner Village is nestled into the base of the Port Hills and has a friendly holiday atmosphere, where you will find many quaint shops and cafes. Sumner has all facilities holiday makers require.

Extra Guest / Children

The Luxury Two Bedroom Two Bathroom Apartments can accomodate an extra rollaway single bed for the 5th person if required. The extra cost is $20. per night. A maximum of five people can reside in one apartment.

Out and About

Take a five minute walk with your children down to the beach and paddle in the water or take them to the childrens playground. There is a BBQ in the playground area for families to enjoy cooking some kiwi sausages, spread it with tomato sauce, wrap it in bread and the kids will be happy.Take the children to our famous Cave Rock and climb the rock to the top and see the beautiful view of Sumners beach and surrounding area. At low tide you can walk through the rock and explore the small caves with the children.Buy an ice-cream and sit on the beach, maybe make some sand castles with the children and watch the waves crashing in or be adventurous and go for a swim, or have a lie in the sun, make sure you wear a hat and put on your sunscreen. Ask your hosts, Roydon or Chris for the buckets, spades and balls for the children.Learn to surf the waves at Sumner beach with Aaron (0800 go surf)Take a 10 minute car ride over to Taylors Mistake and explore this quaint settlement and beach area.Be adventurous and try Paragliding from the Port Hills (Only minutes away) with Nimbus ParaglidingSumner has a great Estuary a few minutes drive from Sumner. It is great for the people who enjoy windsurfing.Enjoy walking around the hills of Sumner (White-wash head) to Bolder Bay. It takes approximately 30 minutes. When there, enjoy the peace and tranquility of the beach.There are also plenty of mountain bike tracks to enjoy. Ask your hosts, Roydon or Chris for the use of the mountain bikes.The Christchurch Gondola is a short distance away and offers a 360deg. View of the Canterbury Plains, Southern Alps, Pacific Ocean and Lyttelton Harbour.The Christchurch Grand Tour" bus stops right outside SUMNER RE TREAT. It travels past the Estuary onto to Cathedral Square where you can have a ride on the Tram, then on to Mona Vale, which is a beautiful old Stately Home, then on to Hagley Park and Botanic Gardens, next to the Christchurch Museum which is in the Center of our lovely city, then travels up to the Heathcote Valley to the Gondola and through the tunnel to Lyttelton, past Godley Head and Evans Pass and on to SUMNER RE TREAT.Ferrymead Heritage Park and the Tamaki Old Christchurch town. Take a trip back in time and see how the locals of Canterbury used to live. There is steam train for the train enthusiasts to go for a ride on.Take a short car journey or bus ride over the Port hills to the settlement of Lyttelton and go on the Black Cat Nature CruisesEvery Saturday Lyttelton has a Farmers Market 10am 1pm
